Teen isolated at home

Activities for a teenager isolated at home -- live online creative sessions Mon-Fri 4-6pm NZ, optional camera, and a moderated community for ages 10+.

Some teens rarely leave home -- because of anxiety, chronic illness, mobility limits, school refusal, or simply having nowhere nearby that fits. Egg Academy brings facilitator-led creative sessions to their desk. Teens log in with an Egg avatar from home -- peers see their projects and chat, not who looks or moves a certain way in a physical room. After the Starter Course, facilitators tailor challenges to each teen's pace.

Creative afternoons without leaving home

Core Egg Academy sessions run Monday to Friday, 4:00-6:00pm New Zealand time on egg.ac -- live, facilitator-led, from the teen's own desk. There is no weekly drive to town, no studio noise you cannot control, and no requirement to perform in a physical room. Equipment: basic computer or laptop, microphone, mouse, and reliable internet.

Peers and facilitators -- not solo screen time

Unlike passive apps or pre-recorded courses, Egg Academy sessions have a live facilitator setting activities, running check-ins, and moderating the room. Teens share work via screen share, chat, and optional showcase. Groups are approximately ten per facilitator, grouped close in age. See how a session works.

Low-pressure ways to start

Before enrolling, families can browse the public community feed, watch a welcome video, or observe a live session -- we can help your teen watch invisibly. See help an anxious teen get started.

Structure when days feel empty

The Starter Course (Egg-Xplore Digital Creativity) gives ten weeks of set weekly challenges in a small facilitated cohort -- one digital-creative subject per week. After that, Community Access ($40/month GST inclusive) offers flexible weekday drop-in sessions with suggested challenges matched to skill level and interests.

Belonging without leaving home

Teens log in with an Egg avatar on screen. What they look like behind the camera matters less than what they make and who they become in the community. Physical access, appearance, and many social barriers that kept them on the outside often matter less online. Peers see projects, ideas, and personality in chat and showcase. Many isolated teens find this is the first place they feel part of a group. After the Starter Course, facilitators tailor challenges to keep them engaged. How enrolment works

Enrolment is through the family: Sign up as Family, family check-in, then Starter Course booking on the next intake. Support workers can share learn pages and help families explore -- see guide for support coordinators.
