Older teens at Egg Academy

Egg Academy welcomes teens 10+ -- older creators join the same Egg-Xplore path, grouped with age-matched peers.

Parents of 16- and 17-year-olds often ask whether Egg will feel too young. Many older teens still love the creativity but want peers their own age, more challenging projects, and a tone that respects where they are -- not a "little kids" environment.

When the vibe feels too young

A common parent email: their teen gained a lot from Egg but started feeling out of step with a younger crowd -- still keen on creativity and peers, but needing something more directed to young people their age. That is a peer-fit question, not a rejection of Egg Academy itself.

Same structured start for everyone

Older teens still begin with the Starter Course (Egg-Xplore Digital Creativity). It builds core digital skills, platform familiarity, and community norms in a small facilitated group -- so wider peer activity is not overwhelming on day one. Age grouping is about belonging, not skipping induction.

Core creators and senior creators

  • Core creators (roughly 10-14) -- Egg-Xplore and membership with peers close in age, facilitator-led structure, daily showcases
  • Senior creators (roughly 15-17) -- same entry path, age-matched peers, more independence in projects, and session tone that feels teen rather than childish
We place teens thoughtfully during family check-in. Tell us your teen's age when you contact us or sign up as Family.

What changes for senior creators

Parents describe wanting more independence, more challenging projects, and learning from each other -- without losing moderation and facilitator oversight. Senior creator groupings aim for that balance: creative peers at a similar life stage, still inside Egg Academy's safe, staged community model. See how Egg Academy works and Community Access.

Evening sessions and working teens

Weekday afternoon sessions (Mon-Fri, 4-6pm NZ) suit many families. Teens who work part-time or study full-time may need evening options. We expand senior-creator evening times where there is enough interest -- contact us with your teen's age and schedule so we can advise what is running now.

Common questions

Is Egg Academy only for younger teens?
No. Egg Academy is for creators aged 10 and older, including 16 and 17 year olds. We group peers by age where it helps so older teens are not stuck in a crowd that feels too young.
Does my 16-year-old have to do the Starter Course?
Yes. Egg-Xplore builds skills and community familiarity before wider peer sessions. Even experienced teens benefit from the shared start -- and parents get visibility through showcases and reports.
My teen loved Egg but felt out of place -- can they come back?
Often yes. Peer grouping and senior-creator sessions address the "too young" feeling many older teens describe. Contact us with their age and we will talk through placement.
What if afternoon sessions do not work?
Tell us during check-in. We run senior-creator evening options where there is enough interest. Standard weekday sessions are Mon-Fri, 4-6pm NZ.
Will my teen be with much younger children?
Egg-Xplore groups are small and facilitated. We aim for age-appropriate placement in Starter Course and membership -- not mixing 16-year-olds into a primarily primary-age vibe.
