How we see a teen's skill level

There is no separate placement test. Everyone starts Egg-Xplore. Weekly challenges show skill very quickly. From there facilitators either help build foundational skills or give more freedom to explore harder challenges and ideas their peers are already into.

Parents often ask for an assessment so we can put their teen on the right programme. We do not run a hard entrance test. Egg-Xplore is built so skill shows up through making -- while they stay engaged -- and we adjust from there.

Why we do not start with a test

A hard-set curriculum test asks a teen to perform on demand, often in a format that does not look like the work they already love. That tells us less than watching them do a real challenge. It also puts a gate in front of the very kids who need to start making. Egg-Xplore is the start for everyone -- including seniors in Years 11, 12, and 13, and teens who already draw or animate at home.

Challenges are the assessment

Each Egg-Xplore week has a set challenge. Facilitators see, in the work, what is already strong and where the gaps are -- timing, tools, finishing, asking for help, sharing with peers. Kids can show skill through those challenges very easily. Assessment happens along the way, through experience, not as a separate exam before they are allowed in.

What happens once we can see their level

From there we go one of two ways -- often a mix of both. If foundations are thin, we help them build those skills with support in session. If they are already ahead, we give more freedom to explore harder challenges and ideas that their friends are delving into. Same community, same weekday sessions. The programme does not split into a beginner class and an advanced class at the door.

What to start with

Start Egg-Xplore. It is one course that includes the subjects in parts -- a new digital-creative focus each week -- so we see a range of work, not one test score. After that, membership is where they specialise. Family check-in is a hello and interests chat, not a skills exam. See how Egg Academy works and the senior pathway.

Common questions

Do you assess my teen's skill level before they join?
Not with a placement test. Everyone starts Egg-Xplore. Facilitators see skill through the weekly challenges while the teen is making.
What if they are already experienced at digital art or animation?
They still start Egg-Xplore with their cohort. Challenges show they are ahead very quickly. We then give more freedom -- harder challenges and ideas their peers are already into -- rather than making them sit a test to skip the start.
What if they are a beginner?
Same start. Challenges show where foundations are thin. Facilitators help build those skills in session. Nobody is expected to already know the tools.
Is Egg-Xplore one course or many programmes we have to choose between?
One course, everything in parts -- ten weeks, one subject and one set challenge per week. After that, membership is where they go deeper on what they loved.
How do we start?
Book a family check-in or observe a live session. Check-in is not an assessment -- it is how we meet you and place them with the right age group.
